The ORTO-DA THEATRE GROUP presenting the critically acclaimed STONES, has been invited to perform "Stones " in
Trois-Rivieres,Quebec.

They are available to perform in your regions from June 26-July 21 offering 3 versions:(7min,25min, 45min &one hour) depending on
your programs.

The Stones performance, a non verbal international show, is suitable for audiences of 500-1000 and can be presented in a
traditional theater setting or in a special version for open-air/street theatre festivals.

Description:

A group of six actors has created a mime show named "Avanim" (Hebrew for stones), inspired by a sculpture made by Nathan
Rappaport ( 1911-1987) .

The sculpture is located in Warsaw at the spot where the ghetto used to be (there is also a replica of the sculpture in the Yad
Va'Shem Museum). It has two distinct sides which are related: The back of the sculpture depicts a group of figures representing the
people sent to the death camps from the ghetto, while the front of the sculpture depicts the Warsaw Ghetto warriors with weapons in
hand. At the very center stands the figure of Mordechai Anielewicz, holding the flame that sparked the fire of the uprising.

The actors employ a unique technique: their faces and bodies are covered in black mud from the Dead Sea. They stand in the exact
position of the figures in Rappaport's sculpture.

Very slowly the sculpture starts moving and the group manages to bring the sculpture to life.

The props used in the performance go through a transformation - a yellow ribbon turns into a swastika, then into a yellow star,
and finally into a Star of David.

The soundtrack begins with a speech delivered by Hitler and ends with Achinoam Nini's lovely and moving voice singing the song that
was the theme of the film, "Life is Beautiful".

Through this resurrection some painful concepts are conveyed about the darkest period in the troubled history of the Jewish people.

Recommendation of IL Embassy in Lisbon: "... Without doubt, the "Avanim" production presents a unique and powerful theatre
experience, combining pantomime, music, movement, lighting and text in such a way that hundreds of invited guests were both touched
and moved. These guests included government officials, such as the Portuguese cultural minister, foreign ministry officials and
representatives of various government bodies, diplomats, local contact people from all fields and Jewish and Israeli community
representatives. The show received much praise.".

In Germany the show was selected in 2007 as one of the ten best performances in the world.
