JOIN THE PROTEST AGAINST ISRAEL’S CONSTRUCTION FREEZE

Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, from 11AM-12 noon, in front of the Israeli Consulate, 42nd Street and Second Avenue, NYC, people of conscience will gather to protest against the immoral, illegal, unconscionable construction freeze ordered by PM Bibi Netanyahu and approved by the Knesset.  It’s purpose seems to be to appease the Arab enemy, which has already announced that the freeze is insufficient to meet its demands.

In violation of the right-wing Likud mandate to preserve the Land of Israel for the Jewish people, a draconian order has been issued to stop work on all construction in the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria for a period of ten months while Arab construction continues unabated.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak is implementing this order with the use of the IDF and Yassamnakim, a special forces unit, dressed in black, reminiscent of the Nazi SS.

Just as in the expulsion of the Jews from Gush Katif, no thought has been given to the emotional, economic, and physical hardships inflicted upon the 300,000 residents of Judea and Samaria, as well as all those involved in the construction industry.

We urge all those who care about the preservation of the Land of Israel to be present on the second day of Chanukah, Sunday, Dec. 13, to rally to the cry of Judah Maccabee, “All those who are faithful, follow me!!” Although this rally will be taking place in NYC, we urge people throughout the country to follow suit and organize demonstrations in their own communities.

Contact the AFSI office, 212-828-2424; 1-800-235-3658; afsi@rcn.com for additional information.

Description:

A group of six actors has created a mime show named "Avanim" (Hebrew for stones), inspired by a sculpture made by Nathan
Rappaport ( 1911-1987) .

The sculpture is located in Warsaw at the spot where the ghetto used to be (there is also a replica of the sculpture in the Yad
Va'Shem Museum). It has two distinct sides which are related: The back of the sculpture depicts a group of figures representing the
people sent to the death camps from the ghetto, while the front of the sculpture depicts the Warsaw Ghetto warriors with weapons in
hand. At the very center stands the figure of Mordechai Anielewicz, holding the flame that sparked the fire of the uprising.

The actors employ a unique technique: their faces and bodies are covered in black mud from the Dead Sea. They stand in the exact
position of the figures in Rappaport's sculpture.

Very slowly the sculpture starts moving and the group manages to bring the sculpture to life.

The props used in the performance go through a transformation - a yellow ribbon turns into a swastika, then into a yellow star,
and finally into a Star of David.

The soundtrack begins with a speech delivered by Hitler and ends with Achinoam Nini's lovely and moving voice singing the song that
was the theme of the film, "Life is Beautiful".

Through this resurrection some painful concepts are conveyed about the darkest period in the troubled history of the Jewish people.

Recommendation of IL Embassy in Lisbon: "... Without doubt, the "Avanim" production presents a unique and powerful theatre
experience, combining pantomime, music, movement, lighting and text in such a way that hundreds of invited guests were both touched
and moved. These guests included government officials, such as the Portuguese cultural minister, foreign ministry officials and
representatives of various government bodies, diplomats, local contact people from all fields and Jewish and Israeli community
representatives. The show received much praise.".

In Germany the show was selected in 2007 as one of the ten best performances in the world.

Special attractions:
The show fit for outdoor festival or indoor auditoriums.

Special requirements:
Attached is technical requirements for the "Avanim" show.

Rabbi Noah Weinberg of Blessed Memory

Rabbi Weinberg founded Aish Hatorah. I met Rabbi Weinberg. He reminded me of my parents. A personable Brooklyn Jew. He was a giant in his contributions to making the world a better place. I know he did for me.

Subject: Rav Noach Weinberg, of blessed memory

Rabbi Noah Weinberg, of blessed memory by aish.com.

We write these words with great sadness and disbelief.

We write these words with great sadness and disbelief -- our beloved Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Yisrael Noach ben Yitzchak Mattisyahu Weinberg - passed away this morning, Feb 5/ Shevat 11.

The funeral will be today at 1:30 pm, at the Ahavas Torah Shul in Kiryat Zanz, Jerusalem, and will proceed from there to Har Menuchos.

Words at this time feel wholly inadequate to describe the greatness of Rabbi Weinberg, of blessed memory. The shock is too great and the pain too fresh, but the situation demands a few words, and over the next week a more fitting tribute will be created.

Rabbi Weinberg was a Jewish leader and visionary par excellence. Every fiber of his being was animated by the reality of the Almighty and the truth of Torah. He lived with the awareness of God -- His infinite love and awesomeness -- and the power of Torah to instruct us on how to live a most meaningful life.

Rabbi Weinberg passionately believed in the greatness of every human being, because God Himself testified to the inherent greatness in every human being.

Rabbi Weinberg exuded love and concern for every Jew, and was a beloved father to thousands.

Rabbi Weinberg dedicated his life to bringing a renaissance within Jewish people, to reach out to every Jew and reconnect him to the depth and meaning of our heritage. The Jewish people are meant to be a light unto nations; Rabbi Weinberg undertook the task to galvanize the Jewish people and inspire us to live up to our mission and be Kiddush Hashem - to sanctify God's Name in this world.

"The hidden things are for Hashem, our God, but the revealed things are for us and our children forever, to carry out all the words of this Torah" (Deut. 29:28). Rabbi Weinberg lived with the reality that the all the revealed things are our responsibility. If masses of Jews are assimilating, it's our responsibility to bring each and every one back. If there is a threat to the Jewish Nation or to the Western world, it cannot be ignored. We must meet the challenges facing us head on and do whatever we can to remedy the situation.

Rabbi Weinberg was fighting the battles of the Jewish people until his last day. Today we are orphans.

Send your condolences and memories of our beloved Rosh Yeshiva in the comment section below.
